I have heard that it is possible to buy property abroad at a discount of up to 40%.  Is this true—and where can I find out about it ?

We think you’ve been hearing about SIPP’s.

New pension and tax legislation comes into force in Britain on 6th April 2006, and you could save between 22% and 40% of the costs of building a property here on Kefalonia !

Although the legislation doesn’t take effect until next year there are ways of taking advantage of the new rules right now.

Sadly—the government dropped the idea before the 2006 budget.  However, some financial institutions are researching similar schemes to attract people to building abroad.
