An awful lot depends upon the final physical ‘volume’ of the load.  It’s amazing how quickly the ‘basics’ build into enough to fill a commercial ‘container’.

As a guide—a very ‘edited’ load from a 2 bed house can easily fill two commercial containers.

Personal experience and anecdotal evidence shows that, despite all, the best option is to use a major removal

company such as Pickfords.

The main advantage is that these companies personally pack each individual item and the containers are ’Customs and Excise’ sealed before being transported. 

If you choose to do-it-yourself, using rented vehicles, you will probably have to endure a search at the various customs posts en-route.  Believe us  -  you will need every imaginable piece of paperwork when you drive your own goods.

There is none of this hassle with major companies,

although the downside is that they can take several weeks to deliver because they schedule for multiple load

integration.

If you do intend to D.I.Y. check your sums carefully  -  Fuel, insurance, en-route accommodation, road-toll fees, added to rent for the ’round-trip’ quickly exceed the quotes from professional companies. 

As a third option you could research the internet for any ‘part-load’ lorries scheduled between England and Greece. 

Occasionally there are real bargains to be found.
