Plumbing and sewage

Do all houses on the island come equipped with their own plumbing systems ?  Is it septic tanks that are used ?

All new houses are built fully plumbed to mains water.

Some of the (much) older and more remote houses rely on well-water or pumped water from private bore-holes.

All village homes have individual cess-pits or septic tanks.  The cost of providing a sewage ‘mains’ system to small villages would be prohibitive in such a mountainous region. 

However, the more densely populated towns and developing resorts do have mains sewage.  Note, if you are on a mains sewage system you pay extra for the service.
