I am a trained mental-health nurse with 23 years experience and would love to work on any of the Greek islands. Can you advise me of the possible scope for this and the necessary requirements ? |

We assume that you are looking for a similar job and that you would be reliant upon the earnings for day-to-day living - and that you don’t speak Greek.
There may well be vacancies within the Greek health system but you would need to be totally fluent in Greek—as, apart from dealing with patients you would be involved in paperwork, reports etc.
Also - the Greek authorities are very protective of their own qualifications system and you may well have problems convincing them that your British qualifications are acceptable.
Please don’t be offended by this - Greece still doesn’t recognise non-Greek 3 year degrees ! There is an ongoing E.U. battle to make Greece accept ‘outside’ education qualifications.
With more English-speaking people moving to Greece each year there is a good chance that your expertise is needed somewhere on a one-to-one private basis. If this appeals to you then we would recommend that you advertise in the ‘classifieds’ sections of a British newspaper and/or advertise in the Athens News.
The Athens News is widely read by ex-pats in Greece and is distributed to America, Australia and Canada.
