Alone in hospital

I’ve heard that, whilst medical care in Kefalonia is good, relatives/friends are expected to attend to personal care for patients in hospital.  What happens if you are on your own ?

The standard of medical diagnosis and treatment at the hospitals in Kefalonia is very high and you should have no fears that medical technology is anything other than

excellent.

It has to be said that nursing care is still quite basic  -  the nurses are usually there only in a medical support role.

It is the practise that family members actually tend to the everyday needs of the patient.

We are unable to come up with an official answer to your query.  If you manage to stay out of hospital for the first few days after moving here then you would by then, more than likely, have made so many friends that the problem would not arise !

Either way,  the hospital Administrators, who speak English and review patients daily, would undoubtedly arrange extra care.

From personal experience we can tell you that most of the staff are eager to talk in English and will spend a disproportionate amount of time with you.  They’re all a pretty friendly and conscientious bunch !
