Just wondering, as we will be moving to Kefalonia in the near (hopefully) future, are there any groups or societies for British ex-pats on the island ?

We are not aware of any such organisations on Kefalonia.
Most of the British ‘settlers’ on Kefalonia tend to resist the idea of any form of ex-pat organisations. The main reason for this is that most of them came here to escape some of the very things that some ex-pat clubs seem to encourage, i.e. Bingo Nights, Card Evenings, outings, etc. (See ‘Bars and Fruit Machines’)
The British community on Kefalonia is very supportive to newcomers and will happily offer help and advice on all aspects of life here—business, leisure, handling bureaucracy etc. Most who choose Kefalonia do so because they love its very Greek charm. The vast majority happily blend in with the Greek community rather than form ‘exclusive’ groups.
However, it is interesting to note that some groups have successfully formed as a direct result of the ‘British’ influence. The Animal welfare groups on the island grew out of ex-pats concern for animals, and fund raising has brought people together socially.
