We will be retiring to the ‘sunshine’ later this year and would appreciate advice on what official registration or paperwork is required in order to live there.

Anyone living in Greece, or owning property or land, must have a Greek tax number. This is the Greek equivalent of having a National Insurance number and is easily

obtainable from any of the island’s tax offices.

The Greek legal requirements for foreign E.U. citizens

living here are rapidly changing to come in line with E.U. rules.  In this transitional period there is a degree of

confusion and it is not uncommon to be given conflicting advice by different members of the same authority.

We suggest that you browse the website of the Greek

Embassy in London  -  and then contact them by letter for more specific enquiries.
