My wife and I are planning to sell our house and move to Kefalonia.  However, one of our concerns is being able to obtain employment throughout the year.  I have skills in panel-beating, mig welding and vehicle paint-spraying. 

Are these skills that are required on the island ?

Following the relaxation of credit rules (about four years ago) there has been a dramatic increase in the number of cars on the island.  Inevitably there has been a similar increase in the number of cars needing repair work ! 

New repair shops have opened and may well require staff with your skills. We are unaware of specific vacancies.

We would recommend your coming over to the island to chat to the proprieters themselves.

We should point out, however, that general unemployment is high in the winter months and you would need to establish a firm agreement before relying upon a year-round income.

As the number of British (living on the island) increases it is likely that their own infrastructure will develop to a point that requires its own labour force.

Now may be the time to consider your own small car-repair business.
